Wednesday, April 24th
Denim Day on Wednesday, April 24th, is a campaign run by Peace Over Violence annually over the past 20 years. The campaign started when a Supreme Court ruling in Italy overturned a rape conviction because they argued that the survivor’s jeans were so tight, she must have helped her rapist remove them. The next day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. Since then, people around the world have participated in Denim Day, a day where communities can come together wearing denim, making a statement against victim blaming.
